2021 Maddens Rise Rosso

Estate grown, hand-picked and hand-made.

The grapes (a blend of 37% Cabernet Franc, 22% Malbec, 21% Merlot, 16% Petit Verdot and 4% Nebbiolo) were hand-picked and hand selected over a sorting table prior to destemming or crushing and direct tipping into an open fermenter. The fruit was cold soaked prior to initiation of fermentation using wild yeasts. Regular plunging gently extracted, integrated and layered the tannins. After pressing and settling overnight, the wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation and aging for 9 months.

A medium dry red style, bright and cheery but very luscious. The lifted primary perfume comprises dark cherry, mulberry, currants and herbal notes – showcasing a broad spectrum of red and black fruits. Abundant and integrated tannins balance perfectly with the abundant juicy fruit flavours, with a long finish.
