2020 Maddens Rise Rose

Estate grown, hand-picked and hand-made.

Grapes from a single block (1996 planted MV6 Pinot Noir clone) were hand-picked then hand selected over a sorting table prior to destemming and whole bunch pressing. The juice was oxidatively handled to promote savouriness and after settling overnight was racked cloudy to aged French oak barrels for wild fermentation over .5 months. Full malolactic fermentation was encouraged on half of the volume for enhanced richness, silkiness and texture.

On the nose, we find raspberry, crème fraiche, hazelnut, vanilla sugar and violet.

On the palate, there is strawberry, nougat and pound cake, with integrated acidity and wonderful length and presence (for a Rosé).
