‘Arcobaleno’ is the Italian word for rainbow. This complex wine comprises five white varietals – Arneis (24%), Chenin Blanc (19%), Vermentino (19%), Garganega (19%) and Fiano (19%). It was fermented using wild yeasts. 85% of the wine was aged on lees for 6 months in seasoned oak barrels and the balance in stainless steel tank. Malolactic fermentation was encouraged on about 18% of the to enhance richness and texture.
This wine is textural and luscious on the palate with a lengthy finish. We find jasmine, vanilla, orange zest and almond on the nose. The palate displays honey, oatcakes, musk, apricot and quince with phenolic overtones. It has lovely acidity and complexity – perfect for enjoying with food. Unique to the Yarra Valley, unique to Maddens Rise.
